New Traffic Analytics Launch: Mobile Traffic Data
The long-awaited update has made Traffic Analysis one of SEMrush’s most powerful tools for even deeper study of other sites’ traffic.
Mobile traffic data and corresponding filters have been added to the Traffic Overview, Geographic Distribution, and Subdomains reports, simplifying analysis of the size and behavior of the audience visiting the target site from tablets and smartphones.
This update was crucial for the Traffic Analysis tool, as in some industries, mobile traffic can reach 90%. On top of that, petabytes of data, coupled with advanced filtering options and historical data, give managers, analysts, business development directors, and branch managers plenty to think about when it comes to evaluating competitors, new markets, and potential partnerships.
The Competitive Intelligence 2.0 Toolbox
Following the relaunch of Traffic Analytics, we have released the Competitive Intelligence 2.0 toolkit , which offers a wealth of information on all aspects of your competitors’ digital marketing strategies, including SEO, SEM, paid advertising, content, SMM and PR.
Based on advanced Big Data technologies and machine learning algorithms, SEMrush’s Competitive Intelligence 2.0 toolkit has become an indispensable resource for those who want to make informed business decisions.

Increased keyword databases
What an achievement! The Keyword Magic tool’s database (and Keyword Research in general) has just reached 9.4 billion keywords and 118 countries . This makes SEMrush the marketing toolbox equipped with the largest keyword database on the market!
If you need to build a whole keyword fortress to run your campaign, finding the building blocks won’t be a problem. It’s not just the quantity of data collected that has increased, but also the quality.
Take a look at all the databases available in the Keyword Magic tool.

The PPC Keyword Tool: The Most Accurate Local Keyword Metrics
Our PPC Keyword tool is growing steadily, and it’s now out in beta! It’s incredibly important to us, but let’s see how important it can be to you too.
You are now able to use even more relevant and precise metrics to plan and configure an optimized Google Ads campaign while ensuring that the allocated budget remains reasonable.
Don’t try to guess the advertising cost for a particular keyword in different regions. Analyze keywords in more detail at the local level using our tool’s updated data on search volume, competitive density, and CPC.
Content Marketing
This year, we focused on formalizing the standard workflow of content marketing professionals by conducting expert surveys around the world.
Based on the information we obtained, we put all our energy into creating a data-driven content marketing platform , where content professionals can easily obtain, and in one place, all the data necessary to develop a strategy.
Here are the updates we made in 2018 that will help you make data-driven decisions across the entire content marketing lifecycle.
Research phase
Using the Content Audit tool , you can now analyze a site’s content into different sets that are automatically divided. To save you time, there are four categories under which your pages will be grouped:
- Rewrite or delete
- Needs to be updated
- Quick review
- Poor content
You are free to create your own custom content sets by determining the parameters by which you want to group your set of pages.
With the latest update, you can also customize the presentation of your data by adding your own columns in the “Table” view and labeling items to refine your search.
Conceptualization phase
We’ve developed a Content Idea Generator that, as the name suggests, generates creative titles for your articles or blog posts. This cool tool will be there to help you when you’re lacking inspiration: simply enter a topic and get five catchy title ideas in one click. Give it a try—no registration required.
Planning phase
Using the new Performance report in Marketing Calendar allows you to see if your current campaign is meeting its goals without having to constantly check Google Analytics data. With this feature, you can quickly respond to any changes, directly modifying scheduled activities, or adding new ones.
The newly added Statistics report provides an overview of the status of a particular marketing campaign and allows you to see which members are assigned specific tasks within a campaign.
Creation and optimization phase
We are proud to present a unique tool: SEO Writing Assistant . It is designed to check in real time how SEO-friendly your text is , that is, the moment you write it, directly in your Google Docs, WordPress account or SEMrush interface. The tool suggests adding keywords related to your topic, checks the readability of your text and examines it according to other metrics.
With the built-in plagiarism checker , you can check for duplicate content in your text and ensure it’s truly original. It also helps you monitor the work of your freelancers or in-house writers.
Diffusion phase
Our brand management solution has expanded significantly this year to save you hours of tedious work: the Brand Monitoring tool is finally out in beta! With its “New” status, it comes with a revamped Overview report , which gives you a high-level view of your online presence using metrics like total mentions, mentions with backlinks, overall estimated reach, and more.
One of the most important recent updates is Sentiment Analysis : now all your mentions found online are automatically classified as positive, negative or neutral, allowing you to react instantly.
Additionally, we’ve integrated the tool with Google Analytics, so you can monitor your referral traffic from the backlinked mentions found by SEMrush. If there are no backlinks in the mention, you can still estimate its approximate reach and the traffic of the resource that mentions you using our data.

The CPC Map tool
Our brand-new tool will become the right arm for businesses targeting multiple geographic areas within a country. CPC Map is an interactive map that displays the average cost per click in a specific area, such as a state (USA) or region, for 17 sectors: from real estate to tourism, insurance, and fashion.
The data provided by the tool can help you allocate your budget wisely between your different local ad campaigns. Currently, CPC Map is available in several countries, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, India, Australia, Brazil, Italy, Spain, France, Germany, Austria, South Africa, and Russia.
Explore your industry in detail by switching regions within the report to compare average CPC and average search volume across different areas for your niche, as well as determine the most expensive and popular keywords related to your business in a specific region. The report also displays a trend graph, which allows you to track changes in advertising costs and volume, and predict the trend for the next month.
With CPC Map, you can determine how competitive your market is, and which areas will be most receptive and affordable to promote your product or service.
Updated Keyword Research and Overview Report in Display Ads
We’ve added a new feature in Display Ads that lets users search for ads with a word or phrase, making it even more efficient to gather ideas for their display advertising campaigns. If you want to find ads that contain a particular term, simply enter it into the search bar, and the report will show you a list of ads in which that word was used by an advertiser.
The Display Ads Overview report design has also undergone significant changes. In addition to a beautiful graphical overhaul, the updated report displays its data in a simpler and clearer way, providing you with all the useful information in one place.
A few new widgets have been added to the report, including widgets for displaying ads by country, displaying ads by device, ad types, and image ad examples.
